Research on Other Space: Re-Listening to New Music Through a Live Music Performance

Fri, April 25, 1:30 to 3:00pm MDT (1:30 to 3:00pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 1

Abstract

This presentation explores the processes of an avant-garde/new music live performance in Brooklyn, New York, developed in close collaboration with acclaimed American Chinese pianist Ning Yu and contemporary composers. Framed within the context of late 20th-century contemporary philosophy, specifically the ideas of Deleuze and Guattari (1972/2000, 1975/1986, 1980/1987, 1991/1994), producing creative research aimed at breaking conventional boundaries of educational research through art and music. Moving multimedia data stories are presented that capture the essence of the live performance, including sound, space, and audiences. The research work centered around a performance space that fosters a deep connection between art, music, and education. The live performance of affect and desire will be progressively detailed in the following sections.
