College Students With Disabilities: Factors Influencing Growth in Social Confidence and Leadership Skills

Abstract

This longitudinal study sought to examine factors influencing two important student development outcomes in students with disabilities. Informed by Astin’s Input-Environment-Outcome model and the interactional model of disability, this study found faculty’s interaction with students with disabilities could not only enhance students’ confidence, but could also promote their leadership skills.
