Session Type: Symposium
This symposium informs the efforts to redress the injustice of historically developing educational exclusion and oppression by providing a fresh research perspective using the notion of excessive teacher/faculty entitlement (Author, 2021). The notion of excessive entitlement speaks to the human inconsistency between what one sees as good for oneself and others. It provides a language to bring to consciousness through narratives of researchers’ diverse experiences the injustices perpetuated through the social processes in the institutional context of their practice and its negative consequence on the values of justice and collective wellbeing they hold. This awareness, in turn, becomes the motive to re-examine existing knowledge and adapt it to our current context by generating practices that support equitable opportunities for all.
