P-12 schools have grappled with teacher retention and recruitment for years. Student absenteeism, behavioral issues, learning loss, and social-emotional issues exacerbated by the COVID pandemic have contributed recently to a dire decrease in teacher satisfaction. This session describes a state-wide pilot-study addressing these issues across 12 public school districts, creating local community alliances to connect decision-makers and resources to meet student needs. Results indicate providing community resources to support student well-being, attendance, behavior, and academic achievement increased teacher job satisfaction and reduced teacher stress and fatigue during the first year of implementation. Given research suggests positive classroom climates contribute to teacher satisfaction, addressing student needs via community-school partnerships may improve teacher satisfaction and enhance recruitment and retention of the workforce.
