Wed, April 23, 4:20 to 5:50pm MDT (4:20 to 5:50pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 1

Abstract

Using video technology to support reflection in pre-service teacher education is standard practice. This study examines the VEO app in Spain's complex teaching environment, requiring high reflection and student inclusion. Pre-service teachers selected clips of unsatisfactory interventions during their practicum and uploaded them for analysis. They received detailed online feedback from both school mentors and university tutors. The study aimed to analyze challenges in the clips, identify mentoring feedback episodes, and compare feedback strategies. This descriptive and exploratory study conducted with 12 pre-service teachers, their mentors, and five tutors found frequent communication and learning climate challenges but no attention to diversity. Different feedback strategies were employed, and three types of feedback episodes were identified using the VEO app.
