Abstract

Using samples from Hongkong and Macao, China, in PISA 2022, this study investigated the associations of ICT use and ICT self-efficacy with student curiosity. In addition, the moderation effects of parental involvement were explored. The findings indicate that students’ ICT use in inquiry-based learning activities (β = .018, p = .002) and in school-related activities outside the classroom (β = .117, p < .001), as well as their ICT self-efficacy (β = .148, p < .001), were significantly and positively related to their curiosity. Furthermore, parental involvement moderated these relationships. For example, parent-teacher communication enhanced the positive relationship between ICT self-efficacy and curiosity.
