Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing academic research by enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and innovation from research design to dissemination. This systematic review explores AI tools’ role in academic research, particularly in idea generation, literature reviews, and handling data. AI tools like ChatGPT, Semantic Scholar, and other specialized models enhance productivity by automating literature reviews, offering predictive text features, and improving data management. The review also addresses the ethical challenges of AI usage in research, stressing the importance of transparency, integrity, and human oversight. By analyzing literature from the databases, it highlights AI tools’ usage, and transformative potential and advocates for ethical guidelines to ensure these advancements uphold academic standards and positively impact the academic community.
