Abstract

This article details an iteration during the design of a web-based progress monitoring software, AvenuePM. The objective was to make design changes to make AvenuePM easy to use and easy to learn. In a pilot study, 27 undergraduate students participated in an in-person empirical study to evaluate if AvenuePM is easy to use and easy to learn. Based on feedback from participants, additional design changes were made and published on the website. In a subsequent study, 9 teachers participated in a remote study. The findings from the two studies are compared. Results from the two studies are presented with the hope that further iterations will improve how teachers use the software for progress monitoring.
