Abstract

This study explores the integration of esports into K–12 education, focusing on its impact on student engagement, skill development, strategic thinking, and educational opportunities. Utilizing a case study approach, data was gathered through interviews with educators and students and document analysis from schools implementing esports with university support. Findings indicate increased student engagement, academic performance, and development of social and technical skills. Esports also foster a sense of belonging and open pathways to higher education and careers. The research highlights the potential of esports to enhance learning, promote inclusivity, and prepare students for future opportunities, while addressing gaps in existing research and aligning with educational equity themes.
