Examining Effects of Institutional Support and Diversity Work on Women of Color Staff Turnover Rates

Fri, April 25, 1:30 to 3:00pm MDT (1:30 to 3:00pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 4

Abstract

This study used structural equation modeling to examine the relationship between institutional support, diversity work, demographics, and turnover rates among women of color mid-level higher education professionals. Findings indicate that feeling valued by the institution mitigates women of color’s intentions to leave their job. Additionally, taking on diversity work had a mediating effect for some women of color and their intention to leave their position.
