Abstract

This study investigates the impact of in-state resident tuition (ISRT) policies on college enrollment among undocumented high school graduates in the U.S. Despite barriers to higher education, ISRT policies significantly increase college attendance. Using logistic regression, the study analyzes data from the American Community Survey one-year sample (2022) and state policy information, finding that living in an ISRT state raises the odds of attending college by 32%. Our findings highlight the positive correlation between ISRT policies and higher education access for undocumented students. These results underscore the importance of state policies in reducing financial barriers and enhancing educational opportunities for undocumented youth.
