Group cognition focus on how small group interact, and construct knowledge. This study focused on using Shimo documents as an online collaborative platform and designed a teaching mode integrating collaborative reading and mind mapping to enhance group cognition. The study involved two classes- an experimental group and a control group. Control group followed a traditional teaching approach. Experimental group were randomly assigned to 10 groups, and was treated Online Collaborative Reading and Mind Mapping teaching method. Results indicate that this method enhances students' mastery of knowledge and mitigating extremes in student achievement polarization. Furthermore, it promotes group cognition, where students progressively deepen their conceptual understanding by self-tagging keywords and expanding keywords beyond instructor-provided keywords.
