Abstract

This symposium will illuminate disruptive methods in qualitative research and will introduce the new book, Light a fire and watch it burn: Disruptive qualitative methods in education research. These authors will elucidate techniques and discuss ways that these researchers use them to challenge current narratives, empowering participants and communities. These techniques include Photo Elicitation, ‘Ōiwi Methodologies, the Praxis of Critical Research, Anticolonial Ethics, Photovoice, Critical Feminist Discourse Analysis, Rasquache as Methodology, Collective Narrative Research, Ethnodrama, Currere as Autobiographical Research, Faith Sharings, Participatory Action Research, Duoethnography, and Sonic methodologies.
