Expansive Views on the Role of Computing and Digital Literacies in Teacher Education

Thu, April 24, 1:45 to 3:15pm MDT (1:45 to 3:15pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Terrace Level, Bluebird Ballroom Room 3A

Session Type: Structured Poster Session

Abstract

The ever-evolving shape of computing and digital technologies call on teacher educators to reimagine, and often, transform, their practice– to take stock of lessons from remote learning contexts prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and use these lessons to renew courses, programs, and institutions for changing times. Papers in this structured poster session will feature studies conducted across a range of settings, all geared towards expanding understandings about what it takes to coherently, meaningfully, and equitably integrate computing and digital literacies (CDLs) into teacher education. They include efforts to research innovative pedagogical approaches at the course level, as well as program and institution level change processes, which examine how faculty teams work to balance issues of capacity, autonomy, and governance.
