Session Type: Symposium
To crystallize the unique historical methodologies of contemporary Chicana/o/Latina/o researchers engaging with histories of education, this session interrogates entrenched paradigms of educational historiography and practice. It is designed to galvanize education researchers using historical methodologies, prompting them to delve into key questions: What are the limitations of traditional educational historiographies, and how can Chicana/o/Latina/o researchers leverage their perspectives to reshape these narratives? How can historical methodologies contribute to the development of educational practices that repair and redress past injustices? By weaving community-based research values with innovative methodological approaches, the panel aims to transcend ascendance in academic boundaries and catalyze a shift toward transformative educational epistemologies.
