Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
As we stand at a historical tipping point in the U.S., this panel seeks to highlight the power of resistance as a form of repair and renewal within our educational systems. In a time marked by toxic political discourse and decision-making, we confront policies and mandates designed to dismantle movements grounded in human rights, racial and gender equity, and social justice. This panel discussion emphasizes the cyclical nature of progress, regress, and resistance by integrating perspectives from educational historians, contemporary civil rights leaders, practitioners, and legal experts. Through reflective storytelling and dialogue, we aim to highlight the voices of our collective pasts and contemporary counterparts who offer lived experiences in mobilizing the liberatory struggle. This session is meant to empower and build solidarity among current and emerging scholars, educators, and practitioners
