Abstract

This session examines the research on student protests and social movements, their consequences, and
how universities respond to student actions. Drawing on sociological, historical, and criminal justice
perspectives, panelists will share their research on student protests to situate current conflicts over free
speech and campus safety in a broader historical and sociopolitical context.
