Abstract

Many of the technologies used in higher education are typically developed outside of higher education and adapted for its purposes. However, the implications for the integration of these technologies into higher education spaces are not always discussed. Our research focuses on the experiences people in the disability community have with trust, privacy, and internet-connected devices, and what their experiences mean for technology integration in higher education, as well as technological development. We understand that participants cannot speak for every person in the disability community, as no community is monolithic, but the insights from participants in our study can be useful for improving technology for the disability community, and strengthening technology policy and practice in higher education.
