In the Spring of 2021, five Latinx high school students gathered over Zoom to discuss experiences of confianza (trust) and desconfianza (distrust) with a team of researchers. Via multimodal testimonios, these students transcended their screens and built a community of confianza and convivencia. Students identified this process as healing and offered suggestions on how to heal desconfianza in school spaces and how to leverage confianza, creating a process by which to imagine schools de confianza. These themes were presented to a group of teachers and parents at the conclusion of the semester, opening up the space for further dialogue and collaboration between teachers and students in hopes of increasing experiences of confianza especially amongst the population of Latinx students.
