Using a multi-case study, the aim of this paper is to understand distributed leadership and culture of collaborative work in vocational educational and training schools (VET). Eleven high VET schools in Chile participate of the study. Interviews with the principal, curriculum coordinator and focus groups with teachers were conducted to produce data. Results describe different leadership practices to promote a culture of collaborative work in VET schools with sustained improvement. Distributed leadership can be observed in aspects such as increased number of management team members, responsibilities decentralization, collective and collaborative work between departments, professional and personal collaboration networks, common goals and group decisions with the productive sector. The results are relevant to improve educational policies in VET schools.
