This phenomenological study with 15 parents and teachers from the U.S. and other countries, aimed to understand how parents and teachers, preschool and kindergarten, perceived their preschool children’s academic/socioemotional readiness and life skill acquisition during the pandemic. Four themes emerged from data analysis: Negative Impacts and Positive Impacts of COVID-19, Perceptions of Alternate Modes of Instruction, and Impact of the Educational Environment on children. Future research may use larger sample size, adopt a mixed-method design, and recruit teachers from different kinds of ECE programs. The findings of this study will contribute to a slowly growing body of research on the topic and help teachers and parents to adopt adequate measures including remote learning to cope with such situations in future.
