Joint displays are graphical tools and matrices that convey the integration of qualitative and quantitative components of a mixed methods study. The advances in the development of different types of joint displays involve three core and four hybrid mixed methods designs. There is a gap in examples and guidelines for how to adapt joint displays to complex studies. This is particularly true for methodologies that use graphical displays, including social network analysis. This methodological discussion describes three types of joint displays developed in a mixed methods social network analysis (MMSNA) study and offers practical guidance for how researchers can successfully develop different kinds of joint displays by integrating qualitative, quantitative, and social network analysis results within an MMSNA hybrid design.
