The purpose of this study was to establish a line of inquiry into student trust in students by: (1) developing a valid and reliable measure of student trust in teachers, and (2) investigating the potential of student trust in students for optimal functioning in school. Results show that the Student Trust in Student Scale provides a valid and reliable measure of trustworthy peer relationships, a social connection with profound influence in the growth and development of students. Additionally, evidence from the structural equation model lends support for the role of student trust in students in optimal school functioning.
