Designed Fidelity of a Virtual-Reality Learning Environment: Impact on Learners

Fri, April 22, 8:00 to 9:30am PDT (8:00 to 9:30am PDT), SIG Virtual Rooms, SIG-Design and Technology Virtual Roundtable Session Room

Abstract

Designing authentic learning experiences using technology involves intentional and careful optimization of the learning environment’s physical, functional, social, and psychological fidelity. Fidelity facilitates the design of realistic learning environments and learning tasks that enhance the learning experience. This presentation will focus on the findings of a study investigating how the different types of fidelity of a VR learning environment impact the learning process and learning outcome of the learners in a mental health counseling diagnostic interview activity for students of mental health counseling.
