Abstract

The purpose of this longitudinal study was to investigate the change in teachers’ (n = 416) job satisfaction, burnout, and intentions to leave teaching across a semester during the COVID-19 pandemic. We first investigated and established measurement invariance across time for each of the constructs. Next, we tested a full second-order linear growth model for each of the teachers’ job satisfaction, burnout, and intentions to leave the teaching profession. Results suggest that educators reported statistically significant decreases in job satisfaction and statistically significant increases in burnout over the semester. While not statistically significant, educators also reported increasing intentions to leave the teaching profession over the course of the semester.
