Utilizing a post-managerial theory building approach, I offer a framework for redesigning K12 research collaborations to address a range of challenges. The persistent theory-practice dichotomies, the historic foundations in scientific management, the incongruence between this foundation and the empirical evidence from the learning sciences and, the issues of equity and social and racial justice that stem from these norms and associated practices define and preserve the boundaries around what forms of knowledge are seen as valued, and who and in what context are deemed as credible knowledge claimants. The framework outlined here is built around the core value of dialogical action, building deep understandings about the nature of problems of practice and collaboratively designing, testing, and assessing improvement actions.
