The purpose of this paper is to show a new conceptual framework and new ways of knowing that have emerged from Latin America in the last years. I want to explain some findings in order to a) discuss the way in which there are alternatives ways of knowing to hegemonic Western (European and U. S.) ones and b) describe some ways of knowing from Latin America. Specifically Suma Qamaña (aymara) or Sumaj Kawsay (quechua) from Indigenous peoples of Bolivia and Perú and a new textbook from the National Pedagogical University of Colombia that addresses imperialism and colonialism.
