In this paper,I consider how I can prepare my undergraduate students to be allies in the fight for social justice. Following the call for proposals that ask us to interrogate the ways allyship is superficially performed, I examine the role of critical community engagement in helping white students develop a transnational understanding of difference as a tool to challenge systemic inequities. Additionally, I discuss how I use art to prepare students for critical community-engaged learning experiences.
