Community Group Description

The APPAM AI Community gathering brings together researchers, practitioners, and students annually interested in the intersection of artificial intelligence and public policy. Building on the community’s mission to foster a vibrant, inclusive, and impactful space for interdisciplinary thinking, collaboration, rigorous research, mentorship, and policy/practice impact, the gathering will offer an informal opportunity for members to connect and identify shared priorities.

The gathering typically includes brief community-building activities, small-group discussions, and working-group breakouts. Possible discussion topics include:

-Emerging issues facing the AI research and policy community.
-Promising substantive research questions on AI’s social, ethical, governance, and public-sector impacts.
-Methodological opportunities and challenges in studying AI and using AI tools in policy research.
-Best practices for responsible AI research, teaching, collaboration, and community-building within APPAM.
-Goals and activities for the APPAM AI Community in the next year.
