The State of Research on Comparative Federalism

Sat, August 31, 10:00 to 11:30am, Omni, Congressional B

Session Submission Type: Roundtable

Session Description

As interest in federalism grows, now is a time to assess what we know about federal systems of government, and to highlight emerging lines of inquiry. Designed with a particular focus on young scholars interested in federalism, this roundtable joins experts on federalism from various global regions to evaluate the state of research on comparative federalism. Some of the questions to be examined in this panel are: What are the predominant questions in the field of federalism? What research areas and methods have been neglected or deserve greater attention? Is there value in studying federalism per se or is federalism merely ancillary to other topics? A particular objective of this roundtable is to create more participation with audience members. To that end, audience members are encouraged to come to the panel prepared with questions and willing to participate in the conversation.
