Session Submission Type: Created Panel
This panel focuses on legislative speech in parliamentary democracies. The papers in this panel utilize novel methodological approaches to identify how exogenous shocks change issue priorities during legislative debates; analyze whether interest group activities affect the content of parliamentary questions; estimate the ideology of MPs using floor speeches; and quantify the levels of negativity in speeches delivered by ministers and MPs and how these change with electoral rule changes.
