China's continued rise and its interactions with the rest of the world have generated much interest in academic and policy circles. What are some of the opportunities and challenges in China's interactions with the world? This panel will address some of the issues emerging from China's rise and its extensive diplomacy in the contemporary era. The presenters will discuss the concept of modernity as China continues to modernize, Chinese multinational corporations and their competition with US businesses in international political economy, climate change and environmental diplomacy, and China's diplomatic reach in the South Pacific and its impact. Through presentation and discussion, the panel will shed light on some of the critical issues related to China's new diplomacy and China's relations with the rest of the world.
