This session specifically focuses on the appointment power itself, as well as the functioning of appointments within the Executive Branch. The papers all approach the idea and process of presidential appointments and unpack the way that these appointments work within administrations. There is attention paid to the partisan dynamic around appointments and how presidents work with and, at times, against Congress, especially the Senate, in regard to the advice and consent requirements for presidential appointees.
