This panel's papers use diverse methods to examine public opinion and citizens' participation in democratic political processes in the Republic of Korea (South Korea). Empirical analyses cover presidential impeachment mobilization, perceptions of US military bases and the security threat, public opinion about universal basic income proposals, and attitudes on gender inequality in the COVID era. The papers analyze Korea in comparison with Taiwan, Japan, the Philippines, European countries, and the United States.
