Session Submission Type: Virtual Created Panel
This panel explores the role of philanthropists, foundations, and everyday contributors as support structures for democratic governance amid an authoritarian resurgence and a global pandemic. Theories hold that civil society can be a bulwark against the failures of democratic governance. But civil society groups need patrons to do their work. Are these patrons living up to their end of the democratic bargain? These papers explore this question.
