Conspiracy at the Capitol Insurrection: Social Network Analysis of Oath Keepers

Abstract

This social network analysis uses court documents to identify the Oath Keepers January 6th conspiracy network. To provide a comprehensive understanding of the network as well as how it functioned on January 6th, five analyses were created. First, a total network provides an overview of all Oath Keepers involved in the conspiracy. Second, four phase networks capture the evolution of the network over time through Planning, Pre-Breach, Active Breach, and Post-Breach phases. This research aims to capture the characteristics of the network and also to investigate the mobilization process of the network from online planning to collective action on January 6th.
