Online Learning: Democratizing Global Access and Motivating Student Learning

Sat, February 8, 8:00 to 9:30am, TBA

Session Submission Type: Full Paper Panel

Session Description

This panel focuses on online learning in political science, including Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), as a means to democratize access to political science education both in the United States and abroad, and especially in the Global South, where access to high quality academic resources is often constrained. Papers address such questions as: What have been the impacts of MOOCs on student learning in political science? What are some of the major challenges of implementing e-learning systems in developing countries? How do students engage with online courses using online textbooks and embedded video lectures, and with what impact? What is the role of “social presence” in distance-hybrid political science research methods courses?
