Anthroinformation Theory: Informational Interaction, Habitus, and Four Categorical Schemes for Societal Structure

Mon, August 24, 8:30 to 9:30am, TBA

Abstract

This article proposes a novel information sociology approach, Anthroinformation Theory (AiT), to habitus and societal structure with regard to their informational interactions. At the socio-psychological level, I conceptualize habitus as a principled agent that responds to its environment stemming from a combined outcome of the three Principles of Self, Knowledge and Morality. In particular, I articulate how structure either shapes principles into goals or subjugates them under one another turning goals into subroutines. At the structural level, four dominant categorical schemes for structure – game theory, network analysis, systems functionalism and field theory – are investigated for their implications for informational interaction. I use what I refer to as the oppressor and oppressee ideologies as an example to illustrate the powerful role these interactions have in structural reproduction.
