Abstract

Sociologists have long been interested in more than whether a person accesses care for their health issues but in what happens in health care settings. The four papers on this panel examines how decisions are made about different health issues with a special focus on trust between health care recipients and providers or the larger medical system. The papers use a range of theories and methods to systematically investigate how people make decisions about their health and the part that trusts plays in decisions and actions.
