Differences in Employer-provided Benefits among Persons with and without Disabilities

Sun, August 12, 12:30 to 2:10pm, Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, Floor: Level 4, 404

The purpose of this study is to examine how disabilities in adolescence are associated with employment in early adulthood. Using the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health (Add Health), we will analyze the implications of four disability types (physical, learning, intellectual, and multiple disabilities) on employer-provided benefits. Learning, intellectual, and multiple disabilities are associated with fewer benefits when controlling for sociodemographic background. Physical disability seems to have little effect on benefits. Relationships between disability type and benefits do not vary by gender.
