Description

This invited panel will discuss specific types of public policy that influence aging and the life course. How does public policy shape cumulative disadvantage processes and outcomes during childhood and adolescence, young adulthood, middle adulthood, and older adulthood? What are the life-course implications of federal and state policy in various domains including health and health care, work and retirement, crime, families and caregiving, housing, food security, and immigration? What are the most pressing public policy issues that life course scholars should be considering? Panelists will discuss a particular theme for 5 minutes each during the first half of the session then will take questions from the audience for the remainder of the session.
