In Event: Teaching Introduction to Sociology: The Content and Role of Introductory Sociology Courses
This presentation provides instructors with strategies and resources to support diverse student populations in their Introduction to Sociology courses. The authors delineate asset-based approaches to serving diverse student populations including high school students, first-year students, students as emerging leaders, English language learners, and first-generation students. For each student population, the authors provide relevant context and perspective and suggest concrete assignment models that instructors could adapt for a wide range of course modalities.
