The Effects of Social Trust on Environmental Concern and Environmental Activism

Sat, August 8, 4:00 to 5:00pm, TBA

Abstract

As long as humans depend on nature for food, air, and water, they are negatively affected by environmental problems. Thus, protecting the environment is important, and this cannot be achieved without promoting pro-environmental behaviors and attitudes among people. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of social trust on (1) environmental activism, which is considered the most difficult pro-environmental behavior, and (2) environmental concern, which refers to awareness of environmental problems and the willingness to contribute to solving them. Data from 44,100 participants in 28 countries will be analyzed to answer the research question and test the hypotheses of this study using regression analyses.
