Enhancing Cognition, Working Memory, and Reading Ability—Among Populations of Second and Third Graders

Mon, August 10, 8:00 to 9:00am, TBA

Abstract

Enhancing Cognition, Working Memory, and Reading Ability—Among Populations of Second and Third Graders in an Elementary School Setting—Through Diverse Learning Materials, Books, and Informal Interviews About Vegetable and Fruit Consumption is a research paper I've completed for PSY 601, D001 Winter 2024, Qualitative Methods in Social Science Research for American Public University System (A.P.U.S.). The goals were to conduct a study using ethnography. I chose to apply the correlation between each 2nd and 3rd grader's interests, abilities in reading with intake of fruits and vegetables, choline, and beta carotene-enriched foods. I interacted with and interviewed 2nd and 3rd-graders on their fruit and vegetable intake (broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, asparagus). Latin prefix, an affix and derivational morpheme "inter", meaning "among" "between", "in the midst", "reciprocal"-the questions I asked cared about the health, cognition, working memory and reading abilities of children who are students at Weatherbee Elementary School. Choline and beta carotene-enriched foods help students' cognition, working memory and reading skills.
