Session Submission Type: Paper Session (90 minute)
This session brings together work on the entanglement of consumption with climate change, ecological sustainability, and struggles over energy and resources. We seek contributions that analyze the cultural, political, and economic dimensions of “green” consumerism, carbon-intensive lifestyles, and transitions toward renewable energy. Potential topics include the role of consumers in decarbonization, resistance to climate-related consumption changes, inequalities in access to sustainable products, and movements that reimagine consumption in more equitable and environmentally just ways. By linking everyday practices to global crises, this session foregrounds consumption as a key arena of social action, social order, and social change.
