There is much research on the overlap between victims and offenders in violent crimes. It is well known that victims can become offenders and offenders can become victims. Moreover, victims and offenders in violent crimes share many characteristics including their criminal histories. This paper analyzes the criminal histories of all those who were either victims or offenders of violence between 2009 and 2011 in the City of New Orleans. The criminal histories date back to 1996. After a descriptive analysis, this research uses a theory-based approach to analyze the criminal history trajectories of both victims and offenders.
