While most of us think of US National Parks as places for nature conservation and recreation, they are also sites for criminal activity. Violent crimes, property crimes, as well as resource crimes take place within park boundaries. This study seeks to understand where and when these different types of crime have occurred in National Parks in the Pacific West Region, as well as the drivers of those crimes. Finally, this study addresses the difficulty of collecting crime data within US National Parks.
