Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel
In conjunction with the release of the forthcoming Palgrave Handbook of Prison Tourism edited by Jacqueline Z. Wilson, Sarah Hodgkinson, Justin Piché and Kevin Walby, the papers presented in this session explore the production, communication, and consumption of cultural representations of confinement and punishment in prison museums across the world. The panel begins with discussant remarks concerning key methodological, theoretical and substantive issues debated in prison tourism scholarship, followed by the paper presentations, and a period for audience critiques and questions.
