Abstract

While homicides in the city vary across time and space, some patterns in relation to structural and cultural linkages associated with demographic, ecological, and geographical distri¬butions of homicides have remained relatively similar. Some neighborhoods seem to be completely im-mune to lethal violence while others are saturated almost to the point of ceasing to exist or function in any meaningful way.
