Abstract

How have socio-economic changes and criminal activity in the District of Colombia (DC) influenced the population supervised by the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA)? Providing community context (e.g., housing costs and availability, employment rates, and demographic shifts) when describing temporal and spatial changes of the CSOSA supervised population will strengthen understanding of successful supervision practices. This situational analysis uses the American Community Survey (ACS) and DC government data from the past five years to compare and describe how changes in DC have affected the supervised population’s socio-economic composition, criminal involvement, and external factors impeding success.
